Ogun APC crisis deepens

THE  crisis rocking the Ogun State All Progressive Congress (APC), has continued to deepen as a faction believed to be loyal to Governor Ibikunle Amosun  on Wednesday sort and got a court injunction against the National Working Committee (NWC), stopping the announcement or presenting any name for the forthcoming gubernatorial elections.

The injunction was received following a Motion Ex Parte filled at the Federal High Court in Abeokuta by a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Alhaji Bola Adeyemi and two others, claiming to be Senatorial Coordinators of the party in the state, against the Independent National Electoral Commissions (INEC) and the APC.

The Governor had only on Tuesday caused a statement to be issued that he would not be leaving the APC and would ensure the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the forthcoming election only to cause another to be issued Wednesday evening that he was solidly behind his consensus candidate, Hon.  Abdulkabir Abiodun Akinlade.

Amosun in the statement signed by his Commissioner for Information, Mr. Dayo Adeneye said that reports that he had been prervailed upon to accept the candidature of Prince Dapo Abiodun as Gubernatorial candidate was political propagandas to tarnish his image

He said “those behind the unfounded rumors are doing so to heat up the polity ahead of the 2019 general elections. They are doing it on behalf of their paymasters for cheap political motives. It has become a routine of many political jobbers in Ogun State”

Party sources in Abuja  however told New Dawn that a copy of the injunction was yet to be served on the NWC adding that as soon as such was received, the National Legal Adviser would respond as appropriately.

The source said “I am just hearing it from you. Just know, when and if we get a copy of such an injunction, the party will respond appropriately”
