Senate on Tuesday summoned the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, over alleged assassination attempt on Senator Dino Melaye’s life.
According to Senate resolution, IGP is expected to appear before it’s Committee on Police Affairs and Senate leader, Ahmad Lawan will also be in attendance during the meeting with Inspector General of Police.

Coming under point of order, Senator Melaye alleged that his life is under threat urging the Senate to order the Police Inspector-General, Ibrahim Idris, to restore his police details, which were withdrawn since April, in order to guarantee his security especially as the campaign period is around the corner.
According to him, it is very clear, given the chronology of events that the Kogi State governor is using the Nigeria police, in his bid to stop my political ascendancy, to assassinate my person
