INDICATIONS have emerged that loyalists of Governor Ibikunle Amosun refused to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC) as threatened because of the fear of losing their various federal appointments including those of Boards and Parastatals
Governor Amosun was reported last week to have threatened to dump the APC for another party if the name of the Ogun State Governorship candidate Prince Dapo Abiodun was not substituted with that of his preferred choice Ho. Abdulkabir Abiodun Akinlade
New Dawn learnt that the Governor’s loyalists told him that leaving APC for another party would mean them losing their federal appointments and losing a chance of getting other appointments if and when President Muhammadu Buhari was reelected.
A source at the meeting told New Dawn that some leaders of the group made it clear to the Governor that only their stay within the APC would guarantee such appointments as it would be impossible for the Governor to sponsor them for appointment from outside the party.
“We cannot afford to leave the party. We will lose our appointments and we stand no chance of getting another when President Buhari is re-elected. Leaving APC is not the answer”, the source said
