Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo today, said he has forgiven his former Vice-President Abubakar Atiku for whatever he has against him while in office and also described him President-to-be.
Obasanjo said this while addressing journalists after the closed-door meeting with the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential candidate.
The meeting which held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Complex, welcome dignitaries such as the Bishop of the Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), David Oyedepo; Islamic cleric, Ahmed Gumi; and the Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Matthew Kukah.
Obasanjo said of Atiku: “From what transpired in the last couple of hours or so, you have shown remorse; you have asked for forgiveness and you have indicated that you have learnt some good lessons and you will mend fences and make amends as necessary and as desirable.”
“Whenever or wherever you might have offended me, as a Christian who asks for God’s forgiveness of my sins and inadequacies on a daily basis, I forgive and I sincerely advise you to learn from the past and do what is right and it will be well with you,” Obasanjo added.
The ex-president noted that among all the presidential aspirants in the PDP, Atiku has the widest and greatest exposure, adding that he (Atiku) understands the economy better than the incumbent president.
Chief Olusegun Obasanjo @Chief_Obasanjo
Today, I received Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in my home. I am very happy to see that the prodigal son has returned. A yoruba adage says; “when you chastise your child with the right hand, you should embrace him with the left hand.”
I have reviewed what went wrong on the side of Atiku. And in all honesty, my former VP has re-discovered and re-positioned himself. As I have repeatedly said, it is not so much what he did against me that was the issue but what he did against the Party, the Govt. and the country.
Obasanjo said on his twitter account.
