Crisis hit PDP as Fayose, others threaten to dump the party over Atiku’s emergence
Following the emergence of former Vice President , Alhaji. Atiku Abubakar , Outgoing Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, on Monday threatened to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Atiku emerged as the flagbearer of the party’s convention held last Saturday in PortHarcourt, Rivers state.
According to the Ekiti state governor, he will renounce his membership of the party any moment from now adding,”After consultations, I will speak clearly to Nigerians.”
Fayose, a close ally of Rivers state governor and chairman of PDP governors forum,Nyesom Wike, may have been bitter as a result of the outcome of the Convention which produced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the flagbearer of the leading opposition party.
It will be recalled that ,Governor Fayose had before the last governorship election in his state, spoken of his ambition to contest for the nations number one seat.
