NDUDI ELUMELU: On the match again

947

He was there before, made name nationwide. Chaired the committee that probed former President Olusegun Matthew Okikiola Obasanjo, for the heart rendering amount of money in American dollars that he spent on power without power.

Then the corruption he wanted to unearth fought back, made him a hunter that was hunted. Though, the rest is now history for Honourable Ndudi Elumelu who on Wednesday, October 3 2018, defeated Honourable Joan Mrakpo to clinch the Peoples Democratic Party’s ticket (PDP) to fly the party’s ticket as its candidate for election into the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency.

Elumelu’s victory becomes outstanding when one considers the fact that he defeated an incumbent whose beau is also the current chief law officer of Delta State.

Elumelu is on the match again. He is back, aiming to reoccupy the seat he willingly vacated in 2015 to actualise his ambition then, as the first Delta State governor of Anioma extraction.

Though, the ambition did not pay off then, Elumelu, who is a blood relation of the equally famous Tony Elumelu of UBA and Heirs Holdings, remained unruffled. He did not cry wolves when there were none. He quietly retreated to his homes both in Onicha Ugbo and Abuja. Unlike many politicians of his generation from his state and constituency, defection wasn’t a viable option for him. Instead he sat put in the party believing that quitters do not win and winners do not quit.

Today, the loyalty, which is lacking in many politicians of his status, that patience and level headedness, that respect for party supremacy, elders and members of the party have paid off. The party and its members have found in him a loyal, dedicated and trustworthy party man they can trust to deliver the dividends of democracy like good roads and other things (amenities) that make life worth living especially for some villages like Adonte in the Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state.

With Elumelu, a second timer, who has been there before, done this and that, Anioma/Oshimili Federal Constituency is in safe hands with him and it will not be out of place for them to vote for him to represent them next February.
