The strike action called by the Nigeria Labour congress (NLC) amid its affiliate the Trade Union Congress (TUC),over the delay in the negotiations over the new minimum wage between labour representatives and the Federal government took its toll on Lagos today as banks in the city closed for business.
In most of the banks visited by our correspondents, the security guards told customers who had besieged the banks early in the morning that workers are not attending to customers.
At the Iju road branch of the Access bank customers were told yo use their ATM cards to make withdrawal while holders of Point of Sales(POS) machines were told they could not use their cards.
The same scenario played out at both Zenith bank ,and the United Bank for Africa (UBA),along the same route and other parts of Lagos.
At the Lagos state Secretariat at Alausa, Ikeja, the place is under lock and key as workers were prevented from entering the premises to resume work for the day by the Labour Unions that commenced strike Thursday over the minimum wage issue.

Our correspondents gathered that the labour unions representation who were said to have arrived the premises as early as 7a.m on Thursday, blocked the in and out entrances of the secretariat stopping workers who came for the day’s work from gaining entrance into the premises.
The action is to enforce the strike called by the trade unions on the unresolved issue of minimum wage for workers.
Parked conspicuously in front of the gate are branded vehicles of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC.
As at the time of filling this report, the secretariat was still under lock and key with workers and Trade union officials hanging outside.
There was no going in or coming out for the few who had gained entrance into the premises before the arrival of the unionist.
