Crisis brew in Kogi PDP West senatorial district over plans by Saraki to impose Melaye

The struggle over who represents Kogi West senatorial district has divided the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state as some elements in the party are resisting moves by the Senate President,Dr Bukola Saraki to manipulate the delegates list to favor senator Dino Melaye.

It was gathered that the Chairman of the Kogi Electoral panel who is from Kwara has already collated the delegate list from Kogi East and Central, but making efforts to include some strange names in the delegate list given to him .

But, the party members are resisting the move by the Electoral Panel to include Senator Melaye’s loyalist on the list.

Our correspondent further gathered that the chairman of Panel who is from Kwara is working on the instruction of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki to ensure that Melaye interest is protected.

It could be recalled that last week members of the Party from Kogi  stormed the National Secretariat of the party and vowed to resist any attempt to impose Melaye on the Senatorial district.

The party members accused Melaye of boasting to them that he will get automatic ticket.

Melaye is a loyalist of the Senate President and he has been used effectively by Saraki to go after the perceived enemies of the Senate President.
