Shekarau defects to APC

Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, a former Kano state governor has defected ahead of 2019 general elections to All Progressive Congress (APC).

Following decision of National Working Committee (NWC) of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to dissolve the Executive of Kano state chapter of the party, former governor of the star, Ibrahim Shekarau has returned  to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Shekerau who joined the PDP in 2014 when he had supremacy battle with Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso on who to control the party’s structure in the state.

Announcing defection of Shekerau on Radio programme in Kano this morning, an aide to the former governore Sule Ya’u Sule,  said the former governor defected from PDP because of   lack of internal democracy in the PDP adding that the decision was taken after due consultations with the stakeholders in his camp.

This defection is coming less than 24 hours when the Elders of the party in Kano state rejected the dissolution of the state executive in state without consulting the stakeholders.

Shekerau, a President Aspirant under Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before his defection is yet to speak whether he will still go ahead with his aspiration in his new party.
Sule said, “I want confirm to you that Shekarau has decided to defect from PDP to APC due to the injustice meted on him and his supporters by the PDP leadership.

“My boss has met with Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in Abuja yesterday and concluded plans for our return to APC. He will meet with all the stakeholders concern in Kano and than made his decamping public.”

Also, the Special Adviser to Kano state governor, Salihu Yakasai confirmed the defection of Shekerau to APC on his twitter handle when he was asked about the development.
Governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje has confirmed defection of the former governor of the state, Ibrahim Shekerau to All Progressive Congress (APC).

This confirmation was made known by the media aide to the governor of Kano state when he was asked about the development on his twitter account.
