President Bola Tinubu has assented to a bill upgrading the Federal Polytechnic, Kaduna, to the Federal University of Technology and Vocational Studies, Kaduna.
The development was announced on Friday, October 16, 2026, by Daniel Amos, the member representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The new university is expected to expand access to higher education, strengthen technical and vocational training, and create opportunities for specialised degree programmes.
The change is also intended to improve research, skills acquisition and practical training for students preparing to enter Nigeria’s workforce.
The legislation repeals the existing law establishing the Federal Polytechnic, Kaduna, and provides for its replacement with the new federal university.
