Helicopter Crash:NAF launches search, rescue after ATR-42 crash

The Nigerian Air Force says it has activated a search and rescue operation following an ATR-42 aircraft accident in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State.

 

 

 

The accident occurred on Monday, October 5, 2026, while the aircraft was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos, the NAF said.

 

 

The Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

 

Ejodame said the search and rescue operation was being conducted in coordination with relevant authorities and emergency response agencies.

 

“The NAF is committed to ensuring the success of the ongoing Search and Rescue efforts,” he said.

 

 

The Air Force said further details would be communicated as they become available.

It did not immediately disclose the number of people on board, the circumstances surrounding the accident or whether there were casualties.
