Residents of Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States have described the 1,068-kilometre Ilella-Sokoto-Badagry super highway as one of the legacy projects of President Bola Tinubu-led administration that would economically liberalise the entire area.
They made this known in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday.
Speaking on the 66 anniversary of Nigeria as a sovereign nation, Mr Muhammad Anache, National Chairman of Grassroots Advocacy for Peace and Good Governance (GAPAG), Muhammad Anache, said the administrations of President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi had performed well on the mandate given to them.
Anache noted that both President Tinubu and Gov. Idris have executed projects that have a direct impact on the lives of people at the grassroots.
Anache recalled that the present administration had executed many developmental projects, adding that the largest was the 1,068-kilometre Ilella-Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, which is a dream come true.
“The CSO views the administration of President Tinubu and that of Idris as transformative, renewing the hope of not only rural but also urban communities,” he noted.
Anache listed other projects to include more than 300 women and youths benefited from skills empowerment training and grants, students’ loan scheme, upgrading of electricity installations and revitalisation of different infrastructure among others.
He also cited the establishment of the Nigerian Institute for Trypanosomiasis Research, Bulasa, salary increase for the military, N82 billion allocated to the Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority.
He added that the present administration had approved N16 billion for the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children and construction of 250 housing units under the Renewed Hope Housing Estate in Kebbi were among the achievements.
Anache noted that Tinubu-led government had paved the way for the establishment, recruitment and funding of Forest Guards, and the Malando-Garin Baka-Ngaski-Warra road project in Kebbi State.
He pointed out that the upgrading of the Federal Medical Centre to a University Teaching Hospital, the establishment of the Federal College of Education (Technical) Yauri, along with support for the Argungu International Cultural and Fishing Festival, were laudable, among others.
In Sokoto, the Majority Leader of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Alhaji Bello Idris, (APC-Gwadabawa North), observed that Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary “is worth celebrating,” considering the progress recorded since independence.
According to him, significant developments have been recorded in economic, social, education and health sectors, among others.
The lawmaker said as a Nigerian citizen and member of the state assembly, he had expressed delight that the country had witnessed differen developments.
He said the Tinubu administration had recorded achievements through various economic empowerment programmes, reforms and developmental initiatives.
In Gusau, residents and beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Initiative lauded the intervention programmes of the President, saying that the initiative had improved the quality of life among vulnerable persons in the state.
A beneficiary, Malama Saude Aliyu, who was among the 250 beneficiaries of the Elderly Support Programme, said the support made a meaningful impact on her life.
The Women Leader of Maru Local Government of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Malama Binta Shuaibu, lauded the Renewed Hope Initiative
programmes of the President, saying they were worthy of commendation.
Shuaibu said the interventions demonstrated the commitment of the Tinubu administration towards uplifting the livelihoods of vulnerable persons, boost food security and promote economic self-reliance for women, youths and elderly across the country.
According to her, with these interventions, the economic hardship of vulnerable persons was reduced, livelihoods were improved and quality of life was ehanced
She explained that the present administration had executed various intervention programmes under the RHI in Zamfara.
The women leader added that the programmes were fully coordinated by the Zamfara governor’s wife, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, from 2023 to date.
She said the interventions commenced in 2023 with the RHI Elderly Support Programme where 250 beneficiaries were supported with N100,000 each.

“Also in 2024, five programmes were carried out, including the RHI Women in Agriculture Support Programme, the RHI Scholarship Award for Women in Technology and the RHI Economic Empowerment Programme for women euetty Traders.
“Others included the RHI Educational Support Programme and the second phase of the RHI Elderly Support Programme where beneficiaries received N200,000 each,” she said.
Shuaibu said in 2025 and 2026, the interventions were scaled up to include the RHI Agricultural Support Programme Training, the RHI ‘Every Home A Garden’ Programme where 25 women were empowered with N200,000 each, while 35 women were selected as Champions.
“We monitored the distribution of Young Farmers Club kits to 160 students, as well as empowerment of 201 women and 110 youths under the Women and Youth Agriculture Support Programme,” she said.
According to her, another intervention of the Tinubu administration in Zamfara was the RHI Social Investment Programme for Persons with Disabilities, where beneficiaries received N200,000 each.
