Veteran broadcaster, Mrs Bimbo Oloyede has marked five decades of broadcasting with the launch of her book documenting the evolution of communication and media practice in Nigeria.
The launch in Lagos last Tuesday attracted top dignitaries and media practitioners who recounted her contributions and impact to the media sector over the years.
Oloyede explained that the book titled Communication and Media in Nigeria: Celebrating Bimbo Oloyede’s Contribution to Five Decades of Theory, Practice and Transformation,
is to bridge the knowledge gap between what the students are taught and what is actually happening in the media industry.

“Bridging that gap makes it possible for students to have a better idea of what to expect when they come out of school and there is nobody better to describe that or tell them than the people who have lived it,” Mrs Oloyede said.
Edited by Dr Unwana Akpan, the book has contributions by seasoned practitioners and respected academics with 55 insightful chapters covering broadcasting, journalism, media history, communication theory, and emerging trends shaping the future of the industry.
