….Faults Interpretation of Appeal Court’s Ruling
Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC Pub Secretary
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected the derecognition of its national leaders by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) while faulting the commission’s interpretation of the Appeal Court’s ruling.
NPO reported that INEC had yesterday withdraw its recognition of the Sen. David Mark and Ogbeni Rauf Aregebsola as the party’s National Chairman and National Secretary respectively.
This also extended to all executive members of the faction’s National Working Committee.
INEC would follow this up with removal of Mark, Aregbesola, and other NWC members’ name from the ADC’s profile on its portal.
Meanwhile, the commission had cited an Appeal court ruling which barred it from recognising the leadership.
Reacting in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC rejected INEC’s decision.
Abdullahi alleged that the commission was pressured by the government on account of the ADC’s rising momentum.
“We reject INEC’s interpretation of the Court of Appeal ruling.
“We knew that INEC was being pressured by a government that has become jittery from the ADC’s rising momentum even in the face of its relentless assault on all opposition parties.” The ADC spokesperson said.
He maintained that INEC’s statement containing the resolution to denounce the ADC leadership is full of contradictions.

Abdullahi assured Nigerians that the party will soon clarify the contradictions whule urging the ADC members to remain calm.
“INEC’s press statement is full of contradictions that fly in the face of both facts and reason.
“We shall clarify these contradictions for all to see. What is clear, however, is that INEC has caved to pressure and has chosen to side with the government against the Nigerian people.
“We are currently reviewing our options, and we shall make these known soon.
“Meanwhile, we call on our members and all Nigerians to remain steadfast as they await further directives.” The statement added.
