Turkish forces intercept ballistic missile allegedly launched from Iran

Turkey’s Defence Ministry said Wednesday that a ballistic projectile allegedly launched from Iran was intercepted by NATO air and missile defense units deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The ministry, in a statement, said that the missile travelled through Iraqi and Syrian airspace before heading toward Turkish airspace, where it was successfully intercepted.

No further details were provided about the type of missile or the specific defensive systems used in the operation.
