PDP BOT members at the Abuja meeting
The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed that the party remains united and focused under the leadership of the Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Iliya Damagum. This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of its emergency meeting held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

The BoT expressed full confidence in the Damagum–led National Working Committee (NWC), the PDP Governors’ Forum, the National Convention Organizing Committee and other organs of the party for their roles in stabilizing the PDP as preparations continue for the Elective National Convention scheduled to hold on November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The statement welcomed the recent ruling of the Oyo State High Court, presided over by Justice A.L. Akintola, which upheld the party’s constitutional right to conduct its internal affairs, including going ahead with the planned national convention. The BoT described the ruling as a victory for democracy, the rule of law and political development in Nigeria.
However, the BoT expressed worry over recent tensions and incidents within the party, including the invasion of the PDP National Secretariat, noting that such actions do not reflect the ideals and character of the party. It stressed that, as the conscience of the party, the BoT will not take sides but will focus on preserving party integrity and fostering dialogue.
To this end, the BoT announced the formation of a high-powered Reconciliation Committee tasked with engaging all aggrieved stakeholders and restoring unity before the convention.
The Reconciliation Committee comprises:
Amb. Hassan Adamu (North East) – Chairman
Chief Mike Oghiadomhe (South South) – Secretary
Chief Ugochukwu Okeke (South East)
Senator Zaynab Kure (North Central)
Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola (South West)
Dr. Lubna Mohammed Gusau (North West)
The committee is expected to submit its report on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
