WU20Malefootball: Nigeria Set to Blast Record Holders Norway in Group Opener.
The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will on Monday 29th September begin their world U20 football campaign finals against the Landslaget of Norway at the Estadio Riscal de Taica in the group F at 9pm hours Nigerian time.
Nigeria and Norway have never met at this level of world football but Chile has appeared three times before losing all their matches in 1989, 1993 and 2019 at group stages
Norway could be a testy match for Nigeria because she holds the world record of the biggest win ever at the U20 category of FIFA world Cup with a 12-0 win over Honduras in 2019.

Norway on their march towards Chile 2005 had on 22nd March 2025 drawn 1-1 with Uzbekistan; lost 0-1 to Ukraine on 25th March 2025; lost to USA by a lone goal on 6th June 2025 and played goalless with Saudi Arabia on 9th June 20025.
The Flying Eagles of Nigeria are in their 13th appearances at the world Cup finals winning the Silver at the Saudi 89 games that put Nigeria on global calendar for the famous Damman Miracle where the team came from four goals down and still won the match 5-3 against USSR in the quarterfinals at the Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd Stadium with Ref Hubert Foustinger of Austria in charge before a crowd of 10,000 fans. Chris Ohehen got famous in that tournament with his inter ballistic missile shots.
Nigeria also was Silver medalist in 2005; won the Bronze at Soviet Union 85 by beating Soviet Union 3-1after 0-0 at game time; Nigeria lost the 1989 finals to Portugal 0-2 after a scintillating performance and in 2005 lost in Netherlands 1-2 to Argentina in the finals that featured Argentina tops now including Lionel Messi.
That means on paper, Nigeria is expected to tame the Norwegians more so when the team has been training hard on firing in goals from every cylinder and any distance away from goal in their warm up matches towards this tournament.
While Nigeria takes on Norway in the group opening match on the 29th Columbia will face Saudi Arabia at midnight of Tuesday 30th.
The second round group matches will feature Columbia versus Norway at 9pm of Thursday 2nd October and on Friday 3rd October at midnight; it will be Nigeria against Saudi.
The last group matches of group F will be played simultaneously at midnight of Monday 6th October between Nigeria and Columbia while Saudi Arabia test might against Norway.
The two top leaders of the group automatically goes into the round of 16 matches of the Knockout stages while the 3rd placed team will compare with other 3rd place losers for the better team to join the Round of 16 stages.
The 24th edition of the world U20 male football tournament runs from Sunday 2th September to 17th October with 24 nations from six football confederations contesting in four cities of Chile.
Reigning Champions, Uruguay is missing in Chile as the country was knocked out at the qualifying stages of the South American confederation making the nation the 8th defending champions that failed to defend their status at the U20 world cup.
