A political analyst, Dr Neville Obagedo has advised Gov Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers to learn how to balance loyalty and development in in governance.
Obagedo, a lecturer in the Political Science Department, University of Benin gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin on Friday.
The university don was reacting to the reinstatement of Fubara after the end of six months emergency rule declared in the state by President Bola Tinubu in March 18 and lifted on Sept.18.
Obagedo said that now that Fubara is back as governor, he should strike a balance between loyalty to the forces that brought him to power and development initiatives that will benefit the people of Rivers.
He emphasised that the importance of loyalty in political relationships, noting that those in positions of power should acknowledge and remain loyal to the forces or individuals that supported their ascendance to power.
Obagedo said that loyalty is not just a moral virtue, but a political necessity, especially in environments where alliances and support networks play a crucial role in maintaining power.
