A former Secretary of Transparency International,TI Maj. Gen. Isola Williams Rtd. has called on the Federal government to accord late Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Humprey Nwosu a national honour for the conduct of the 1993 Presidential election won by late business mogul, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola but annuled by former military President Ibrahim Babangida.
General Williams call is coming in the wake of confession last week by Babangida that Abiola won the election.
He made the confession during the launch of his book.
In addition to the National honour, General Williams asked the government to pay him compensation for the wrongful termination of his appointment.
The retired General who resigned his commission on account of the fall out of the election also called for the establishment of a national Symposium on Elections and National stability from June 2025.
He also urged the government to take any other action that would depend the practice of democracy in the country.
