In a decisive move to enhance internal security and uphold professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force, Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate posting of new Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to lead Police Zonal Commands across various regions.
He has also appointed a new AIG for the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Onikan, Lagos.

The newly appointed AIGs are as follows: AIG Suleiman M. Yusuf for Zone 9, Umuahia; AIG Ahmed Ammani for Zone 1, Kano; AIG Zachariah Fera for Zone 4, Makurdi; and AIG Augustina N. Ogbodo for the FCID Annex in Lagos.
He explained that the appointments follow the retirement of several former AIGs who previously held positions as heads of the Zonal Commands, as well as the recent promotion of former AIG Zone 1, DIG Ari Muhammed Ali, to the position of DIG in the Department of Operations at Force Headquarters in Abuja.

In his directive, the IGP emphasized the importance of strict supervision and diligence in the performance of official duties. He urged the new AIGs to align with ongoing police reform initiatives that prioritize ethical policing and professional conduct.
The IGP charged these officers with the critical responsibility of addressing misconduct within the ranks and fostering a culture of professionalism, thereby contributing to the advancement of the Nigeria Police Force and the overall progress of the nation.
