In Yorubaland,it is not common neither is it appropriate for a true son to denigrate his home or use the left hand to describe his fathers house.
Any child who does that is not deemed to be a true son.
There is also a saying that he who destroys or paint his homestead bad, will surely come back home to meet the mess he has made of his background….meaning in Yoruba..ENI ti on ng lo si Ede to ba odede je,to ba kuro ni Ede odede lo maa pada si.
No matter how small the home is,it is always the final resting place for a farmer after a hard day’s work.
In other words, home is sweet especially when the source of living of any citizen is tied to his homestead. It is Also so when such a person takes cognisance of his home background in the pursuit of life affair. Charity behind at home.
Yes,Davido may be a dual citizen of Nigeria and the United States, the fact remains that after his sojourn in the United States,he still came back home to complete his University education even if it was the University founded by the church where his family has an interest.
For David Adeleke aka Davido, who made his fame and fortune in Nigeria via signing to the admiration of youths who are his followers to now turn around to paint his country of origin bad in a foreign land and to his fellow country men and women is akin to a son using his left hand to describe his fathers house.
His statements and attitude of late by the economic health and living condition has been rubbished has deep meaning in Yoruba .
This is in spite of the fact that he can now claim American citizenship.
His pronouncements is likened to somebody who deny the source of his beginning. There is a saying that any river that denys its source will Dry up. I pray his source will not Dry up.
In contrast, Davido who rose from obscurity to fortune in his homeland , came from a family rooted in Osun culture and Yoruba politics.
For the Adeleke family, politics is their game and it has produced great personalities. From his grandfather the late Senator Ayoola Adeleke, a senator of the second republic whose fame and name in Osun politics could not be wished away.
Till today, his influence years after death still determine the political alignment and behaviors of the family and people of Ede, a town in his native Osun state he left behind decades after his demise.
Osun state is described as the state of Living spring.
Has the state lost its vibrancy if Davido’s statement is anything to go by even when his uncle is now the number one citizen.
It was the late Senator Ayoola Adeleke who built the fame, Davido now wish to rubbish as a senator of the Federal Republic during the second Republic.
Davido also has a rare privilege of being nephew to his father’s junior brother, the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke who was a former Governor of Osun state and two time member of the national Assembly.
He was often refered to as the ‘Serubawon’ of Osun politics not only because of his long chap but also by his political exploits both as Governor and later Senator before his demise some years ago.
He also Left his footprints in Osun state like his late Father.
Also in the same vein, Davido’s father, Adedeji Adeleke, a very successful business man and founder of Pacific Holdings, is not known to have made such demeaning statements about the country that gave him all the opportunity to excel.
Today, his father has many thriving businesses in Nigeria and I doubt whether he can describe the country which gave him hope and opportunity to excel in the manner his son put down his country in far way United States and to Nigerian audience who had a nostalgic feeling of returning home.
To have described Nigeria’s Economy as having been rubbished and of no value is to deny the fact that he is still making the millions from the rubbish that has been the lot of our currency. Afterall,he still make a significant portion of his millions from the sweat of thousands of Youths living in Nigeria Who are his fans
By asking those who wish to come home to stay put in America is to write-off his home to where he has since returned neither has he given any hong of his decision to relocate ‘Japa’ out of the country.
There is also a Yoruba saying that you don’t urinate inside the river you are going to drink from.
Davido has not stopped making money from the millions of youths who are his fans in Nigeria and beyond. Is he saying that those fans who stayed behind in Nigeria to attend his various shows and gigs are fools who are spending the little they made from the rubbished naira to attend his events.
Is he saying they are all fools?
If Nigeria is now a hell that should be avoided, he probably forgot the Yoruba saying that he who throws stone in the market should know that his stone can hit his family.
Today, the governing style Ademola Adeleke, his uncle and Governors of Osun state, his home state in Nigeria , is part of the shambles Davido is talking about.
He is saying that the performance of his uncle on whom his father spent his fortune to become Governor, is one of the major contributors to the rot he cannot film in Nigeria to show the diaspora.
He is also passing a vote of no confidence in his uncle on whom he also campaigned and sang praises.
There is a way in which when one person throw stone in the Market,it will likely fall on his relative.
Davido’s tirade about the state of things in Nigeria is also a vote of no confidence on his uncle who has shown his skill more on the dancing stage than in the performance of his duty for which he was elected.
While it is true that the economy is on the downside due principally to the gross mismanagement of the past for which no previous administration can absolve itself, all lovers of genuine change must appreciate that there is no gain without pain. Yes,times are hard but process of economic recovery and social reappraisal which we all need to rescue the country is not an easy Task to accomplish.
If and when the economy is back on its feet, will Davido ask his friends and fellow citizens to come home to enjoy the efforts others have made to put the country on the right path.?
By asking his fellow country men not to come home,is he saying that they should remain in foreign land helping to build other peoples land.
It is obvious that Davido’s political antecedents and pronouncements in the past is not in alignment With the party in power at the Centre but he must remember he is also part of the rot by the social decadence his music is promoting .
He is part of the value system now on the downward path.
Now that he is in money and on top of his fame, he should be reminded of the saying that..laala to lo soke ile lo ng bo….however high a shot is, it will surely come down.

Nigerias Economy Not in Shambles,Omokri chides Davido
It is obvious that Donald Trumps America will not role out the carpets for immigrants …legal and illegal, most of who belong to Davidos generation and I doubt if he will prefer them to be deported to the backside of America than to come home to join in repairing the country he has written off.
Restoring the value and glory of the Naira is definitely not a days job neither is it a childs play.
While youthful emotions, outbursts and effusions similar to Davido’s tirade against his homeland is not uncommon, his clarion call on his fellow citizens not to come home is akin to asking them to remain in Egypt instead of enduring the pain to reach the promised land.
Few words they say is enough for the wise.
