Boat Drivers bemoan Piracy Along Abuloma-Ama Waterways

Boat drivers and passengers plying Abuloma jetty to Kalio-Ama in Okrika Local Government, Rivers State, has raised alarm over increase in sea pirate attack on the water ways.

 

 

Our correspondent gathered that immediately it is 6pm in the evening the sea pirate strikes by robbing drivers and passengers of their belongings raging from ATM cards, cash, Engine of the boat amongst others.

 

 

The Secretary Kalio-Ama community, in Krike kingdom of Okrika Local Government Area, Mathew Kalio confirmed the incident saying the sea pirates attacked drivers and passengers on sea once it’s after 6pm, adding that all belongings of the drivers and passengers are collected

 

He warned that if the boat drivers opt out by closing before 6pm due to the incident, such will affect passengers while calling on relevant security agencies to come to their aid.

 

 

Meanwhile, the Rivers state police command has not yet responded to the incident as the spokesperson of the command SP Grace Iringe-Koko ro informed our correspondent that she will get back after she has finished her enquiries regarding the incident.
