Organised Labour in the country has declared an indefinite nationwide strike over the failure of the Federal Government to meet its demand for a new Minimum Wage.
The Nigeria Labour Congress NLC and the Trade Union Congress,TUC, made the declaration at a news conference on Friday.
At the news conference in Abuja, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, and President of the Trade Union Congress, Festus Osito, said the strike action was unavoidable.
Ossify and Ajaero, who revealed that the strike action will commence on Monday, said this followed the failure of the government to announce a new minimum wage and reverse the hike in electricity tariff among others.
They apologised for the inconvenience this will create for Nigerians but said it was the only logical thing to do.
