The leadeship of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti’s Egypt 80 fell on the laps of his son, Femi, unprepared. The youngman who was in his 20s then never saw the responsibilty coming; his aim then was to accompany the band on an American tour when the incident that led to his emergence as the band happened – the arrest of his father at Muritala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) on ….

The American tour done and dusted, the band returned home while Fela remaind in detention and the real leadership of the band became Femi’s lot.  In his attempt at introducing a no smoking policy in the band, he ran into a collision course with some old members of the band who resisted the change and who found support from his uncle who was the manager of the band as at then. Talk of old habit, which they say die hard.

Tired of the confusion of the band members cause by the no smoking policy,  Femi and his bossom friend, Dele Sosomi, broke away from Egypt 80 to founded Positive Force.
