One-day media training on reporting PLWDs

The Journalists for Democratic Rights, JODER is organizing a one- day Media training on Reporting People Living With Disability, PLWDs.

The theme is “Community Support Centre and Awareness Creation for Children with Special Needs in Lagos “.

The project according to the Executive Director, E-SIGNED, Adewale Adeoye is with the support of the Ford Foundation West Africa Region. ”

According to Adeoye, JODEE with the support of Ford Foundation has established a Community Support Centre and Awareness Creation for Children With Special Needs at Surulere in Lagos.

He said that according to United Nations Children Education Fund ,UNICEF, about 18.5% children are out of school adding that with the percentage of those with learning and other types of disabilities .

Said he,”Although the World Bank projects that people with disabilities constitute about 15% of populations in developing countries and that between 80-90% of them don’t gain access to basic needs in life especially basic education” .
