As the headline indicates, ‘ Now that Abiodun has won his second term,’ will he now concentrate on the fixing of Ijoko/Agbado/Oke-Aro/ Akute road that he inherited in 2019 from Senator Ibikunle Amosun?

Akute end of the Ijoko road

The road, initially conceptualised to be a six lane road with five bridges that only one of the bridges, the one near Yakoyo, is across a swam, was to terminate at Ojodu Berger in Lagos State. It was aimed at not only giving the people living in the border towns good road to ease the stress they pass through accessing Lagos State through Iju.

A lot of property owners were rendered homeless by the Ogun State government of Amosun who pulled down their buildings for right of way to make the road a possibility.

But 10 years after, the road construction which was awarded to Messrs Prado E. Mercedos, a Brazilian construction firm at N32b then, is yet to be delivered, even after, Amosun in the dying days of his government assured the people of the state that it will be completed… saying in Yoruba,”gbogbo e la maa se ” even when it is obvious to himself that time is against him.
But then, lying is permitted as one the the trade marks of politicians.

When Abiodun took over on May 29, 2019, he still pledged to complete it but like they say, first four years after, the people of the area now know the real meaning of ‘talk is cheap’.

The road is still a gigantic white elephant project. It is still in some part, the way Amosun left it.
Every wet season when it becomes practically impassable, Abiodun tries some remedial measures and forgets about the 32km projects ones the dry season sets.

During the campaigns for the just concluded election, Abiodun was back on his familiar tricks. Earth moving vehicles were deployed to the road with stones to start fixing the road just to catch the votes of some gullible people on that corridor.

Abiodun has wasted four years without doing any serious work on the road instead he indulge in playing politics with the lives of those he called . Good people of Ogun state.
Now that he has been reelected for the second term, it is expected that he will use the next four years to concentrate on it.
