
Sorting of ballot papers and counting of results have started in many polling stations in the country as the state elections come to a close on Saturday.
The Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC, slated 2.30pm as the final time for voting which started at 8am.
The electoral law only permits those who join the line before 2.30pm to vote affer which voting must come to an end.
The Nigerian Election Situation Room in its preliminary report on Saturday confirmed that 80% of election officials arrived voting centres before 8am .
There were complaints of low turn out in some parts of Adamawa, Lagos and Kaduna.
This was compared with what happened during the presidential election.
