Nigerians tolerate bad leadership- Otubushin

Says it is only in Nigeria where people queue for everything and accept anything thrown at them

United States based Attorney and former President of Egbe Omo Yoruba,Dr Olu Otubushin has described Nigerians as being too tolerant of their bad leaders who took them for granted often.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Newdawnngr.com he said that the docility of Nigerians towards their bad leaders has resulted in a country lacking in everything which could contribute to provision of human indices of development.

Said he,”this is the only country I know in the world that you have to queue for everything.ive never been in a country like this of all this places I’ve been to.

“I think Nigerians are too docile and they accept anything. In fact they are used to suffering and smiling”.

Speaking further on the level of underdevelopment on the country,he attributed this to continuing bad leadership encouraged by the fact that the leadership are taken advantage of them.

“Things will continue to be like this when the people accept anything thrown at them by the leadership “.

He however is of the opinion that in spite of bad leadership at all levels ,Nigerians are easy to govern because they didn’t ask for much from government but provision of basic amenities of life.

On this months general election,he described recent events as enough signs nit to trust the government adding, “they are capable of doing anything because they know thinking faculty of our people is so low that they accept anything thrown at them by politicians.

On youths travelling out of the country,he said that things are not as easy and rosy as they are made to believe as people are made to work for everything they work.

“the beauty is that over there you see the money you are working for and it is easier now because there are mentors all over guiding the new migrants unlike before.

He lamented that lots of Nigerians who would have used their brain to develop the country are excelling in theur chosen profession especially in the field of medicine.

On this months general election,he advise voters to think more of those who can develop the country and unite her citizens to bring her glory back for greater exploits as was in the past.

“Leaders should think first about what they want to do for the country and think Nigeria first before any other thing so as to have a better country everybody could be proud of”he declared.

In answer to a question,he said that since Nigerians in the diaspora cannot vote,the only thing they can do now is to continue to mount pressure on the leadership for good governance at home.

“Since we have no voting power,our role is to keep on pressure for good governance at all levels so we can have a country to return to”.
