Whether his political foes accept it or not, the recent public reception of distinguished Senator Bassey Albert shows that he is a phenomenal politician who is exceptionally popular and people-friendly. Indeed, in terms of public admiration and acceptability, he is without doubt acknowledged as the most outstanding politician without rival amongst the governorship candidates in Akwa Ibom State.
Obasanjo’s endorsement of Obi holds no water-Yakassai
OBA is, naturally, a crowd-puller any day and everywhere. The magnitude of people who flocked out to welcome him from incarceration on Dec 29, 2022, was simply overwhelming. It affirmed that OBA is an idol, a redemption-symbol to the masses. His popularity is not fake or built on propaganda like that of a “least qualified” stooge. It’s real, and earned!
The goodwill, solidarity and mass appeal he enjoys tell that his leadership style which is prominently defined by his exceptional benevolence and other forms of charitable deeds have warmed him into the hearts of the citizens. This is much more than what Udom Emmanuel and OBA’s other political enemies in the PDP expected.

The grassroot politician’s benevolent lifestyle and other sterling leadership qualities are positive reference points by voters to why they will cast their votes for him. In the politics of Akwa Ibom State and even beyond OBA has carved a nitch for himself as a unique personality who spares no effort or cost to change people’s lives, positively.
He has the Midas touch that changes bad situations to good, anywhere he steps in. And the positive impact of his deeds is what attracts the electorate to him as if they are charmed. Truth is, they are attracted to him in appreciate of his selfless sacrifices and concern for the down-trodden.
Over the years, Obong Bassey Albert has been in politics, he has touched so many lives positively. Testimonies of his kind-heartedness, his compassionate nature and nondiscriminatory leadership approach are his selling points. Therefore, the vote of confidence passed by the masses on the Young Progressives Party’s (YPP) governorship candidate is because of testimonies of his goodness.
Ahead of the forthcoming General Election, OBA has become the most popular and acceptable brand as well as the easiest to market to the electorate in the state. The name is trending because narratives of his goodness and indelible footprints of achievements are like hit songs on the lips of the citizens. Moreover, his achievements are verifiable and visible!
Therefore, when the citizens in their thousands lined the streets to welcome him, it was a vote of confidence. It was a strong message that they have pitched their tents with a man who is concerned about their welfare. A man who will pay gratuities; bursaries; create tangible jobs; bring the basic infrastructure to the people as well as give the women and youths starter packs and boosters for their small businesses, etc. That reception was an indicator of how a majority of the electorate will troop out to vote for OBA on the Election Day.
Without doubt, with his overwhelming popularity accross the state, OBA will sweep the poll. He will dust the unpopular “least qualified” stooge to emerge as the next governor. The signs of victory are too glaring and even some skeptics are persuaded that it is no more time to sit on the fence. It’s time to join the multitude to change the almost eight years of sad narratives.
Few days after OBA’s return, hundreds of former members of other parties have switched camps to join the impending ballot revolution. So, let’s continue in solidarity and steadfastness. Vote OBA; vote YPP; vote the free leaves!
