Abia 2023 and the Otti challenge

Alex Otti

Years ago, Singapore lost its leader, Lee Kuan Yew, the man credited to its transformation from under-development to a developed economy. Yew was a patriotic, courageous and disciplined leader, who showed his people the way, and inspired them to greatness.

Singaporeans did not attain their present first world status by a sudden flight. They made sacrifices, passed through pains and sufferings too. Thus, notable achievements are not attained on a platter of gold. Yew led by example, and his people followed his lead. He envisioned a new Singapore, shared it with his people and they all ran with it, with him showing the way.

At any point in time, the citizens of a state deserve the type of leadership that they have. This stems from the fact that such a leader did not suddenly emerge from the blues. He or she came from amongst them. However, there is more to leadership than the provision of basic amenities. A leader must have a strong, moral and disciplined background. He must be exemplary, meaning that his people must learn from him. He must provide inspiration to his people. Equally, he must be able to galvanize the people to greater, loftier ideals and common purpose.

From the foregoing, it can be deduced that these are not common attributes or ideals, but uncommon gifts bestowed to a select few. These are the distinguishing features between two people. They were the qualities that Yew had that made him perform excellently well in transforming Singapore. It has so much to do with leadership qualities than the availability of natural resources.

The foregoing leadership attributes, and more, are what is expected of any in-coming governor of Abia State. And Abians are blessed to have them encapsulated in Dr Alex Otti – the young, vibrant and resourceful governorship candidate of the Labour Party, LP. Presently, the State has descended to its lowest ebb, and nothing works in Abia – no good road, no public water supply, no street light, no industry or enabling environment for it to thrive. Workers and pensioners are being owed backlogs of salaries and pensions, respectively. The State has been reduced to a laughing stock amongst the South Eastern States, nay Nigeria, due to its poor leadership and developmental strides, over the past twenty four (24) years or so.

This is the position Abians have found themselves with their votes. And it will equally take us our votes to come out of this present precarious state, and move forward. At this stage of our deep decay, what the State badly needs is a leader that will turn things around, and place us on the path to growth and progress. This is what has been denied us by the past governors, aided by their cronies. And who will sweep out the quacks and mess of the past 24 years, and guarantee us enduring legacies and values? No other candidate can do this, except Dr Alex Otti.

Otti, in my opinion, is our best bet of getting things reasonably right, and getting us out of the woods. He is a self-made man, and an independent -minded fellow. He can be referenced. His track record, from his days in school to Nigeria International Bank, and his last job as the GMD of the defunct Diamond Bank PLC attests for itself. It is generally believed that our past shapes our future. Otti always leaves a positive footprint anywhere he threads. He has seen it all in the corporate world, and therefore knows how money and business work. He is now ready to impact Abians with the investment of his personality.

He is committed to the total transformation of Abia. And this is the reason his support base cuts across all age groups, divides, political groups and parties. Ndi Abia have cried enough, suffered so much and have prayed to God concerning their desires. And because God cannot turn away from a strong desire, He has answered their prayers by giving them Dr Alex Otti – an epitome of change. Abians, that much desired change can only be effected with your PVCs by voting massively for Alex Otti and the other Labour Party candidates in the 2023 elections.
