Former President Goodluck Jonathan; Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and Chairman Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote among others have been listed among personalities expected to honour the installation and coronation of the 14th Olowu of Owu, Oba Prof. Saka Matemilola,Otileta V11 on Saturday October 29,2022.
It will be recalled that the Olowu officially ended his mandatory spiritual seclusion prior to his Coronation today as the new Olowu of Owu Abeokuta.
He is ascending the throne after the late 13th Olowu,Oba Adesanya Dosunmu joined his ancestors December last year.
The chairman of the Central Planning Committee, General Ekundayo Opaleye (rtd), disclosed the coming of the dignitaries on Sunday during a press briefing at the Olowu Palace, Ago-Owu, Abeokuta.
The Oba is to be coronated today October 24 ,at the Olowus palace,oke Ago Owu.
Opaleye revealed that the coronation and installation activities of the new Oba would run for seven days, spanning from Monday, October 24th to Saturday, October 30th, with a series of activities to mark the day.
According to him,there will be a special banquet on Friday,October 28 which will be chaired by Dangote.
The official presentation of staff of office by the Ogun state government will hold on Saturday October 29 to be graced by former President Jonathan and Ooni of Ife,Oba Ogunwusi.
Speaking on the order of the programme for the event, the chairman said some dignitaries expected at the coronation include, “Prof. Ishaq Oloyede who would chair the colloquium on Thursday while the Olubara of Ibara, Oba Olufemi Omolade and Jonathan were royal father and the chairman respectively.
He said the former president Olusegun Obasanjo would receive the dignitaries at the events.
He said the installation and crowing of the Oba would be followed by paying of homage by the villagers, groups and associations in Owu kingdom.
The days activities will also include a tour of historical places in Abeokuta, story telling and reminiscences by elderly people,games and sports .
The venue of the two major events on installation day is the Ona Odeleye Park,Ori Omi,Owu Totoro,Abeokuta,
while a banquet will also hold later in the day at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library.
