Lagos state,Musiliu Akinsanya aka MC Oluomo and his supporters have made good their planned rally in support of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress,APC.
Didn’t Tinubu just goofed on MC Oluomo?
The rally this early Sunday morning has resulted in gridlock in different parts of Lagos State .
Oluomo,it will be recalled had announced a massive rally for Tinubu after supporters of Peter Obi marched on various streets of Lagos last week.
On Sunday, Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, and thousands of his supporters marched on the ever-busy Ikorodu road and other parts of Nigeria’s economic capital.
Shouts of “Awa Lokan”, “Se Jagaban”, “Tinubu for President” rend the air as the crowd marched through the roads.
Many vehicles struggled to make their way as the crowd occupied a significant portion of the road.
MC Oluomo had earlier postponed the scheduled rally citing logistics problems.
In a statement he signed and posted on his Twitter account, Oluomo announced that the proposed five-million-man walk will be held to support the re-election bid of the Lagos State Governor, Bababjide Sanwo-Olu, and his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat.
“This is to inform our esteemed members, supporters and lovers that our solidarity walk for the actualisation of Tinubu-Shettima Presidential ambition and the second term of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat will still hold as earlier scheduled,” he tweeted.
“We implore you all to disregard the earlier postponement notice. Scheduled as follows: Date: Sunday, October 9, 2022. Take-off point: Teslim Balogun Stadium. Termination point: Bolade Oshodi. Time: 9 am. Sorry once again for any inconvenience. Thank you.”
The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sanwo-Olu, Gboyega Akosile, also confirmed the rally via his Twitter handle on Sunday, accompanying some videos showing MC Oluomo and thousands of supporters.
“This is a single structure in Lagos. There are many layers of this kind of structure built over the years by @officialABAT. But just take this one rub body for your Sunday social media pleasure,” he tweeted.
The situation forced thousands to gather outside the Teslim Balogun stadium, walking all the way to Bolade-Oshodi in honour of Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu.
This is the second major political rally in Lagos State for the APC Presidential candidate Bola Tinubu. The first was held on Monday, October the 3rd by women who took to the street to show their support for the APC presidential candidate.
Meanwhile, security operatives are also on ground to ensure that the rally is peaceful. (Pieced together from reports by Daily Trust and Channels TV)
