Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, David Lalong has revealed that the leaders of the party has settled for five candidates among whom a concensus will be chosen for today’s presidential primary.
He spoke this morning in a Channels Television programme monitored by Newdawnngr.com.
According to Lalong the leadership after the rejection of the kite flown by National Chairman,Senator Adamu on the choice of Ahmed Lawan as Concensus candidate,the governors went into a meeting and arrived at the list of five among the thirteen candidates earlier clears by the screen committee and based on their performance at the screening.
Those selected are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo,Senator Bola Tinubu,Governors David Umahi of Ebonyi, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti and former Transport Minister Kayode Fayemi.
In answer to a question,he said it is still possible to get a concensus among the five candidates depending on the result of their negotiations.
It will be re called that the reported adoption of Senator Adamu Monday generated crisis of confidence within the party and this led to the Northern governors rejection based on theyr earlier decision to back return of power to the South.
The delegates are yet to file to venue of the convention as at the time of filling the report.
