…Says it’s a slap and potential danger for the state’s politics and development
…Calls for the setting up of a review committee to determine Senator Adeolas indigeneship
A socio political think thank in Ogun state, Development Initiative of Ogun West, has alerted the public about the clandestine moves to adopt a Lagos senator as ogun west candidate in the on -going All Progressives Congress,APC party primary in the state. Adeola vows to pursue regulation of social media
According to the group,a Review body of well meaning leaders should be set up to determine the indigene stature of Senator Solomon Adeola,a senator representing Lagos West, so as to prevent outbreak of violence when he is foisted on the people of the senatorial zone .
This is moreso when his indigeneship of the Yewa zone is under serious question.

PRESS RELEASE

Elders, leaders, residents of Ogun State, ladies and gentlemen of the press.
Development Initiative for Ogun West is a non-partisan think-tank of deeply vested individuals in the development of Ogun West Senatorial District and Ogun State at large.
We believe very strongly that Ogun State has all it takes to be the next largest economy in West Africa, after Lagos, productivity wise.
Sadly, the state currently ranks in a shadow of itself, falling short in many metrics of good governance and socioeconomic development.
As strong believers in the notion that politics trumps everything, we have watched, read and observed with grave concerns the ongoing in the politics of our dear Ogun West, particularly as regards the contest for the Ogun West Senatorial seat.
Finance Bill 2020: Nigeria’s tax system needs review – Adeola
The extent of the escalation and potential fallout has prompted our intervention this time.
A pertinent caveat at this juncture is that our intervention is of no political leaning or motivation but for a most productive and impactful long term outcome for the people of Ogun West.
Also, our intervention is based on the knowledge of the fact that the APC is the party in government in Ogun State and therefore the party’s candidates would have an advantage in the outcome of forthcoming elections.
Practically, leading political parties are the ones that win elections; the facts and numbers from the last two cycles of elections speak to this.
Meanwhile, a serious issue capable of stalling the development of the entire Ogun West Senatorial District in all fronts and already casting our leaders and elders in very bad light with a potential to unleash unprecedented violence has ensued.
The following notions which were hitherto rumoured have come to bare as real and imminent;
1. That a serving Lagos West Senator; Olamilekan Adeola pseudo named “Yayi” is vying for the office of Ogun West senate.
2. That on the one hand, Senator Adeola (Yayi) is being accused of not being native to Ilaro in Yewa South L/G. And on the other hand the senator insists he is from Pahayi- Ilaro.
3. That there is a need to forestall tendencies (political thugs) who may take advantage of the potentially volatile situation to unleash unprecedented violence on Yewaland.
In view of the above, and in order to avoid ugly situations that would send Ogun West many years backwards in socio-political and economic development and also in order to resolve the above volatile and contentious issues into harmony; we are calling on all leaders of thought, elders and citizens of Ogun State home and abroad to consider the followings:
A. That a review committee be set up to interrogate the situation. We propose that the committee be made up of at least two prominent members of Yewa Think Tank, At least two nonpartisan Ogun West Citizens , two prominent personalities from the other two senatorial districts, and two representatives from reputable CSOs, and two skillful qualified dispute resolution/mediation experts.
B. A one page position paper by members of the public from Ogun West be forwarded to diogunwest@gmail.com
C. Without prejudice to the actions or constitutions of the political parties which the aspirants belong, the committee should make their findings known to:
1. The Government of Ogun State
2. Yewa Traditional Council
3. Ogun State Traditional Council
4. All political parties
5. The general public.
The above matters require urgent actions to help forestall breaches of peace, violence and other offensive behaviours capable of bringing the whole district into disrepute thereby stunting Ogun West development.
