Killing of Deborah:NBA postpones Sokoto Spidel conference

The Nigerian Bar Association,NBA has announced the postponement of it’s Spidel Conference earlier schedule to hold in Sokoto,the Sokoto state capital.
In a statement today,NBA President,Tayo Akpata said it’s decision was informed by the need to respect the memory of Deborah Samuel,the student of Shehu Shagari College of Education,who was killed by some fellow students for alleged blashphemy against Prophet Muhammed.
While the NBA expressed it’s regret over the postponement in view of the preparations made by it and Sokoto state government,the body said prevailing security situation in the state necessitated such a decision.
He however, express the dissapointement of the NBA to the alleged charges preferred against the perpetrators of such incidence,saying such charges negates the seriousness and nature if the crime commited.
It called in the state government to reassess the situation and give the trial the seriousness it deserves.
