The Newdawnngr.com has finally got hold of the names of the seven candidates selected from a pack of twelve candidates which signified interest in the Olowu of Owu stool.
The candidates sent letters of intent following the request for nominations from the five families which made the Otileta Ruling house which turn it is to produce the next Olowu.
The Owu have seven ruling houses altogether since they migrated to Abeokuta in 1834.
They crowned the first Olowu Pawu in 1855.
The list showed that Soke family has three candidates namely Dr Saka Matemilola, Sir Olatidoye and Adesina Adeseun.
Others are ,
Dr Adewale Adegbemi from Aderinoye compound , Adelani Semiu from Omolefon Compound,. Dr Kazeem Olanrewaju Bakinson from Otopo compound and Soyele Semiu from Lumosa compound.
The list would by now have been sent to the five kingmakers who are to vote and pick one candidate whose name will be forwarded to the state government through the Ministry of Chieftancy Affairs not later than March 15 as stipulated in the letter sent to the kingmakers last week.
For now, Owu people wait with bathed breadth for the next Oba to preside over it’s affairs.
