Prof. Gbajabiamila of Crescent university

Speaking in an interview with Newsmakers he said the establishment of the College was informed by the need to contribute to the production of qualified manpower in the health sector with emphasis on meeting global health standards.
According to him, poor funding of the health sector in the last forty years has contributed to growing medical tourism.
He said the establishment of the College of Health Sciences comprising departments of Nursing,Anatomy and Psysiology was informed by the conviction of the Institution founder,Judge Bola Ajibola that the issue of health has not been adequately covered adding that the college have since been fully accredited by the nations medical council.
Professor Gbajabiamila lamented the high rate of child mortality in Nigeria resulting from lack of improvement in and adequate budget for the health sector saying,”a situation where the President of a country seeks medical attention beyond the shores of the country is lamentable.

The vice chancellor said the new college of health sciences would add more value to the existing colleges like College of Natural Sciences,(CONAS),College of Information and Communication Technology(CICOT),
Bola Ajibola College of Law(BACOLAW),College of Environmental Sciences(COES) and College of Arts,Social and Management Sciences(CASMAS).
He recalled that though the UNESCO recommended a ratio of one medical doctor/nurse to sux thousand patients which had not been met adding that this dearth of qualified health practitioners was responsible for this gap and that the Crescent University College of Health Science is poised to fill part of the yawning gap.
He said the University would follow British curriculum especially for Nursing and Medicine so that it’s trainees could fit into health services worldwide.
To ensure quality,he said that, there is a strict number of students to be admitted as dictated by regulatory bodies such that life of people should not be put to danger
