Arogundade
Executive Director of the International Press Centre (IPC), Lanre Arogundade, was Thursday arrested but later released by the operatives of the Nigeria Immigrations Service (NIS) at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, on his arrival from Banjul, The Gambia.
He has gone to the Gambia where his organisation anchored a training session for journalists.
The Immigrations officials later handed the journalist to the operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), who have kept him in detention for some hours.
It was learnt that the renowned trade unionist, socialist, and media development specialist, was arrested on the pretext that he is on a wanted list.
The news of his arrest by 3.15 pm local time when his plane landed at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport had hardly gained traction in the media when the security operatives returned his travel documents back to him.
He said this in his handle later today.
Arogundade, however, said the development was not his first as he experience same treatment whenever he travels out of Nigeria.
