Aniocha South holds Security Summit, adopts measures to curb crime

A coalition of traditional rulers, security agencies and indigenous citizens living in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State has adopted a six-point action plan to boost security in the council.
The measures were adopted during security summit held on Tuesday, 21 December 2021 at the council’s Secretariat Complex in Ogwashi-Uku.
The action plan include:
*All the security agencies must deploy their operatives to ensure that the Yuletide season is crime free.
*Security groups should synergise and ensure optimum cooperation among their operatives.
*Vigilance groups must not shield any suspected criminals.
*All suspects arrested by the vigilance groups must be promptly handed over to the police.
*The nefarious activities of the secret cult groups must be checkmated through exchange of intelligence and prompt action.
*Intelligence gathering should be prioritised with improved liaison and collaboration between security agencies and community leaders.
*Youths and all residents in the council should be discouraged from using fireworks during the Yuletide season.
Declaring the meeting open, Chukwunwike urged security agencies and everyone living in Aniocha South to thank God Almighty for the peace being experienced across various communities in the council.
“Let’s all thank God for His faithfulness towards us in Aniocha South Local Government Area. You will agree with me that God in His infinite power has brought remarkable results in our security architecture.

“Also, I want to commend the security agencies for their gallantry and performance. Thank you all for sometimes denying yourselves sleep so that residents can sleep in their homes”, Chukwunwike added.

The meeting was well attended by traditional rulers from various communities, Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence, Department of State Security, Presidents-General of Town Unions, vigilante groups and traders.
Also at meeting were leaders of Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani and Igbo communities resident in the council.
Leaders of each of the communities took turns to speak on the activities of their people. They commended Hon. Chukwunwike for creating a peaceful atmosphere in the council.
Among the traditional rulers present at the summit were His Royal Majesty, Obi Godwin Nzemeke, Obi of Ejeme Uno; HRM, Obi Anthony Ogboli, Obi of Ejeme-Aniog;, HRM, Obi Kenneth Ezegbunem, Obi of Nsukwa; HRM, Obi Godwin Onyenweuwa, Obi of Ewulu; HRM, Obi Emmanuel Ofor, Obi of Adonte and HRM, Obi Solomon Ezechinyelugo, Obi of Ashama.
