Abuja under Siege: Bandits raid secondary school in Kwali, abduct Vice Principal

In spite of government’s boast of combating headlong activities of bandits and kidnappers, they struck again within FCT even stormed junior secondary School (JSS), Yebu in Kwali Area Council of Abuja, abducting the vice principal of the institution, Mohammed Nuhu. They were said to have operated on Saturday night before the UniAbuja raid.

A teacher, who preferred anonymity, said kidnappers wielding sophisticated weapons invaded the staff quarters of the school.

He said some of the kidnappers surrounded the quarters, while other gangs scaled the fence into the compound from where they broke into his apartment and whisked him away.

He said the kidnappers tied down the security guard manning the gate before they forced the victim’s door open.

“In fact, even some teachers that are staying inside the quarters could not be able to come out because of the sporadic gunshots,” he said.

Meanwhile, reacting to the incident on Wednesday (today), the National Union of Teachers condemned the attack on the school and the kidnap of the vice-principal.

The National Secretary-General of the National Union of Teachers, Dr. Mike Ene also called on the government to facilitate the release of Nuhu.

Ene said, “We condemn this attack and it is so sad to hear that our teachers are no longer safe. We call on the government to please rescue Mr. Muhammed Nuhu”
