Micro-blogging App, Twitter, has said that it will continue to engage the federal government towards lifting the ban placed on it.
This response was given today to update the public on its negotiations with the Nigerian government over the pending ban on its use in the country.

President Muhammadu Buhari had in his Independence Day broadcast on Friday hinted of his directive that the ban be lifted.

He however added a proviso: that the company must satisfy some of the conditions listed before a final lift.

An unnamed Twitter officer was quoted as tweeting shortly after the President’s speech, “We continue to engage with the Nigerian government and we are committed to charting a path forward to the restoration of Twitter for everyone in Nigeria.

Discussions with the Nigerian government have been respectful and productive – we look forward to seeing the service restored very soon.”

There have been clamour for the unbanning of the Apps as many Nigerians especially the upwardly mobile youths earn their living on it.

According to the younger Nigerians say technology offers them alternative financial route in the face of dwindling economic opportunities across the country.

The government had claimed that national security supersedes every other consideration.
