Former intelligence chief of the Navy,retd Commodore Kunle Olawunmi has said that until the federal government tackle the fundamental issue of Boko Haram the country will keep on going down and far from solving insurgency.

Speaking on Channels Television on Wednesday morning,the firmer intelligence chief who claimed to have worked with past heads of states said solving the problem involves addressing the centre of gravity which he said are those in President Buharis government sponsoring the insurgencies all over the country.
He said that until President Buhari jettison the advice of those he said want to Islamise the country in the Presidency and try the 400 sponsors of Boko Haram arrested,the insurgency will push the nation to a catastrophic end.
According to him,insurgency is not being tackled purely for religious reasons adding that President Buhari has allowed the religious cabal to seize the government and polarize all sectors of the nation especially the military along religious line.
Commodore Olawunmi said that the security of the military formations is being compromised by the influx of civilians into military formations every Friday to observe Jumat prayers without cognisance of security implications.
He said the insurgents use the opportunity of open military formations to profile the security architecture and hence able to compromise the military.
He said that there is no amount of Tucano het that the country has that will solve the problem until the sponsors in government are exposed are brought to justice.
Speaking further,he said that,”there are some people in this country who feels that the country should be Islamised”.
Olawunmi,who said he is not bordered about his safety but to save the country said some of those he has interrogated while in service are now in the presidency with a view to continue their nefarious activities of undermining the federal government towards carrying out an Islamic agenda.
“This country is going down the precipice.we have been set back by 60 years .This country has never been polarised like this before. I don’t care again about my life whether it is at risk or not.This country is bigger than any individual.killings will not solve the problem until we go to the fundamental sponsors of insurgency.
According to him,the damage that has been done to the country by the nepotism perpetrated by the Buhari government will take several years after President Buhari to unite the country..
The retired military intelligence chief said he was part of those who convinced the United States government to support President Buhari during the 2015 presidential election as the candidate who can fix the country but was surprised that,”what he has turned out to is shocking.i was in Harvard in 2014 and I know what we did to convince the United States government to back Buhari”.
On the security breach in the Nigerian Defence Academy,NDA,he said it is a insiders job adding that”it is somebody inside working backwards that facilitate the insiders collaboration”.
Olawunmi also blamed the media for refusing to label the bandits as terrorists which they are.
“As the first commandant of the Intelligence College,I know the profile of terrorists.
“If President Buhari is serious he must pronounce them as terrorist organisation which they are “. He declared.
He urged the media not to allow itself to be used to taint the problem of the nation from what it is adding,”the media know the problem but they dare not publish it.
