There was confusion at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital (formerly Ladoke Akintola Teaching Hospital) Osogbo, Osun state on Thursday as a pregnant woman who was admitted to the hospital after domestic violence on her by her husband died.

It was gathered that the woman, whose name our correspondent could not confirm as at the time of filing this report, was brought to the teaching hospital three days ago and had been receiving treatment after she was beaten by her husband even in her present state.

However, things took a tragic turn Thursday morning when the woman died.

As at the time of filing this report, family members of the pregnant woman and some of her friends had descended on the husband accusing him of killing his wife.

It was gathered that the woman had suffered long period of domestic violence before the last beating she received on Monday which led to her admission at the hospital.

Our reporter was told that it took the intervention of the hospital security men to rescue the husband from the hands of angry family members who had mobbed him.

After being rescued, the security men had to lock him up in one of their facilities to save him from further attacks.

“As at this time, he is still in one of the rooms where he is being locked up. The angry members of the family are standing outside waiting for him to be released to them so they can deal with him,” said our source

One of the friends of the deceased gave her name as Latifa while the husband, said to be a butcher, is called Wale.

Findings revealed that the deceased already one child for her husband while she was carrying the second pregnancy.
