Fatokun, Jude score to lift Kwara over Plateau in 2-0 win

Second half goals from Jide Fatokun and Stephen Jude condemned Plateau United to their second defeat to Kwara United in the NPFL MatchDay 21 encounter decided at the Kwara State Sports Complex in Ilorin.
It was a tough start for the visitors as Kwara United put them on the back foot early, dictating the pace of the game and forcing goalkeeper Chinedu Anozie to some early minute saves.
First clear cut chance of the game rested on Issa Gata who wriggled past three markers in the midfield before unleashing a volley that could have given Kwara United the lead but Anozie read his movement and made a comfortable save.
Plateau United sat back in their half as Kwara United were asking questions for an opening goal but the visitors stood their ground to thwart all threats thrown at them.
Kwara United should have scored on 24 minutes when Amos Gyang hacked down Chisom Samuel on the left flank but the resultant well taken free kick by Afeez Nosiru was cleared to safety by Buhari Ibrahim to keep his team in the game
Amos Gyan won a freekick in a promising position for the visitors to have their first scoring opportunity but Oche Ochewechi could not direct his goal bound strike past the wall on 40 minutes.
Kwara United returned for the second half more resolute to claim all points and this intent was manifest from the commencement of the half as they came at their opponents from all directions with Jide Fatokun and Afeez Nosiru pulling the strings from the middle.
Kwara United would then break the deadlock through Jide Fatokun who volleyed home a close range effort to give the hosts the all important lead after connecting well to a measured pass from Jude Stephen.
After substitutions on both sides, it was Kwara United that benefited from the newcomers after substitute Joshua Agboola set up Jude Stephen to curl-in a clever strike to double Kwara United lead on 80th minute.
Plateau United substitute Silas created some moment of brilliance when he came on but Kwara United defense lead by Christopher Nwaeze and  Ejeh Isaiah repelled him to ensure another clean sheet at home.
Stephen Jude who scored a goal and provided the second was adjudged’the man of the match
