…Frowns at destruction of societal values by young elements
Towulade Akinale, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, has enjoined parents and guardians in his domain to keep watch on their wards and teach them the ‘omoluabi’ values inherent in the Yoruba culture.
Addressing the Akinale community on the occasion of the end of Ramadan festival, Oba Ogunleye regretted the breakdown of the Yoruba values of honesty, hard work, respect for elders and neighbourhood friendliness and admonished parents and guidians for abandoning their responsibilities to allow their wards to engage in destructive vices against the norms of our culture.
Oba Ogunleye was irked by the report of some young boys in the environment who were caught as accomplices of a petty thief who stole money and expensive telephone valued over N600,000.00 from a restaurant in the town.
“I have asked the Police to do the needful on the arrested boys as I will not condone any level of crime in our community” Oba Ogunleye told the parents who had come to seek assistance to release their children from Police cell.
Said he,” It is unacceptable for the palace to be working day and night on how we can raise the status of our community through means of socioeconomic development to provide employment and welfare, only for a handful of untrained and uncultured elements in the environment to be turning the hands of the clock by indulging in crime.
This we will not allow and we shall deal with them in the appropriate and lawful ways without bothering on whose ox is gored, Oba Ogunleye told the community.
