We join the rest of the world to mark the annual commemoration of the International Day of Families proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1993, with the Theme ‘Confronting Family Poverty and Security Concerns: Family Responsibilities and Challenges.
The family unit is the bedrock for sustainable development, it is essential for every society to create a supportive environment where family members realize their potential to contribute to achieve world peace.
This year, we mark the International Day of Families in Nigeria, Lagos State by creating a platform for continuous conversations, which we hope will proffers sustainable solutions to issues germane to the sanctity of the Family wellbeing. In particular, the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted the economic, social and psychological wellbeing and standard of living of citizens, the duration of isolation resulted to Family experiencing and expose to extreme poverty, frustration and depression.
The goal is to engage the Family unit as an advocate in changing the COVID-19 Vaccine narratives and for the communities to understand the need and urgency to get vaccinated and adhere to the COVID-19 protocol, in order to save lives, the sooner we get vaccinated, the earlier we get back to normal, especially, those with underlining conditions and the average men and women who are more vulnerable.
