Even with Amotekun in Ogun, gunmen abduct two medical practitioners

The state of insecurity has continued in Ogun state in spite of launching of the state branch of Security network Amotekun, as two medical practitioners have been abducted by some yet to be identified gunmen.
It was gathered that the two victims, a medical doctor and a nurse were ambushed while driving along Abeokuta-Imeko road on Wednesday night, April 7.

The victims, Newspot understands were identified as Oladunni Odetola (the head of General Hospital, Imeko, Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of the state) and one Mrs Bamgbose, a nurse of the same hospital.

 

Reports revealed that the assailant came out from the bush at Olubo village to attack their targets, leaving behind the vehicle of the abducted persons, a Toyota Camry (Muscle) with registration number, KTU 584 FR.

A police report revealed that the doctor’s NMA identity card and a minute of the association’s meeting were discovered in the abandoned vehicle in which the front passenger-side tyre was punctured and the windscreen perforated by the gunmen.

Confirming the incident, the Ogun Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi revealed that police detectives are on the trail of the kidnappers, adding that two empty shells of AK-47 ammunition were seen at the scene of the incident.

Meanwhile, the Umueze Nguru community in Imo State was thrown into confusion on Wednesday night as gunmen kidnapped the traditional ruler of the town located in the Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of the state, Eze Charles Iroegbu.

Newspot gathered that many chiefs were also kidnapped along with the monarch, causing palpable tension among residents of the community.
