Rangers International FC of Enugu on Wednesday thrashed visiting Dakkada FC of Akwa Ibom 3-0 in the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) MatchDay 8 played in Enugu.
Isreal Abia put Rangers in front before the interval even as his side missed lots of scoring chances.
Christian Nnaji made it 2-0 on the 73rd minute and completed his brace in the 89th minute to put scores at 3-0.
Four yellow cards were shared between the two teams as Ubong Willians of Dakkada was booked in the 35th minute and his team mate, Issac George received his in the 82nd minute.
Esor Achibong of Rangers received a yellow card in the 30th minute and Ugochukwu Ugwuoke would also be cautioned on the 83rd minute.
With the win, Rangers moved up to the 5th position with 14 points on the log while Dakkada stays on the 12th position with 11 points.
Rangers FC coach, Salisu Yusuf said that tactics won the match for his team.
He noted that he made two quick changes before the interval when he noted that Femi Ajayi and Esor Achibong were tired.
Speaking on his goalkeeper, Femi Thomas clean sheet, Yusuf said that he will continue in goal for the home team as Nana Bonsu is still trying to get over his challenges.
”Bonsu lost a family member and he needs to get over his psychological challenges and after that , he may come back into the match line up, ” Yusuf said.
Yusuf also hailed Christian Nnaji who scored two goals in the match saying that he will keep growing in confidence with every match to gain regular starts.
