A former Head of State and chairman of the National Peace Committee, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd.), has urged Governor Godwin Obaseki to see his election as an opportunity to provide good governance to the people of Edo state.
While appealing to Nigerians across the board to emulate the Edo State example, he said Nigerians appreciated the exemplary sacrifice, decorum and courage that they showed allaying the earlier fears that preceded the elections.
Abdulsalami in a statement on the Edo 2020 governorship election on Sunday personally signed by him thanked the Oba of Benin, His Royal Highness, Omonoba Ewuare II, who teamed up with our the NPC to deploy his moral authority in the appeal for peace.
He also congratulated the contestants, Godwin Obaseki, the winner, Pastor Ize-Iyamu and others who sought the office of Governor.
Abdulsalami told Obaseki to repay the people of Edo State with all the ingredients of good governance, justice equity.
The statement reads, “Your Excellency, Governor, it is our prayer that you will repay the good people of Edo State with all the ingredients of good governance, justice equity. Once, again, accept our congratulations and may God guide you.”
