The police in Ondo State on Tuesday occupied the state House of Assembly complex on suspicion of an impeachment bid.

Workers at the Assembly said they came early to work to see the security men occupy strategic positions within the complex.

This came barely 48 hours after the state Deputy Governor, Mr. Agboola Ajayi, defected to the Peoples’ Democratic Party from the ruling All Progressives Congress.

It was gathered that the policemen were deployed in the Assembly complex following the information that the lawmakers might have a rowdy session today.

The police patrol vehicles were seen parked inside and outside the Assembly complex.

As at 1400 hours no news flowed from the 26 member House of Assembly over the suspected impeachment bid of the Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi.
